Been pretty busy lately. The biggest time consumer has been a group assignment I've been working on over the past month. Let's just say that it's for the best for me to refrain from talking about that here.
But while giving the appearance of being well-organized and well put together, I've been kind of frazzled lately. This culminated in me getting a really bad cold over the past week. It got to its worst point when I visited home over the weekend, a trip I'd had planned for some time. My immune system's timing wasn't so good; I had a temperature for most of the time that I was back in Iowa. I guess it was my body's way of saying that it needed a goddamn break. It wasn't a pleasant message, but I think it was a necessary one.
So I've been recovering. Mentally and physically. I've been trying to make time for joyful little activities, which has helped out a lot.
One last note: I've been reading Street Gang: The Complete History of Sesame Street, a really wonderful book about the development and early years of the show. Though not at all perfect, it really goes to show how television has gone from being a "vast wasteland" (in the words of former FCC chairman Newton Minnow) to a medium with some really artistically innovative and intellectually stimulating stuff.
