A couple of days ago, comedian Mitch Hedberg died of a heart attack at the age of 37.
As usual,
Emo Philips has put it best:
"Although the mass media has deemed it too unimportant to report, the best stand-up comedian in the world passed away Wednesday."Just about everything else about his death has been said.
I was able to see Hedberg perform in February with some friends, his show one of the best stand up acts I had seen (despite the fact that the couple next to us was obviously attempting to get it on).
In fact, to me, Hedberg was one of the first comedians I saw and reminded me (along with Emo Philips and Steven Wright) that it was possible to be intelligent and still funny. It's really a shame he had to die so early-it seems that all of the talented people are a rare breed now.
But most importantly, he taught me that an escalator can never break. The rest of you know the punchline.
